FACT

Anky wins eighth World Cup with six times 10

Anky and Salinero's 3rd World Cup, picture © Ken Braddick / HorseSport USA The last ride was the best ride today. Anky van Grunsven again did what everyone had expected: she won her eighth World Cup, the third riding Keltec Salinero. Her test was a mixture of power, elegance, relaxation, moments of rest. All judges agreed on her win. The four judges at H, C, M and B, Gary Rockwell, Vincenzo Truppa, Katharina Wüst and Beatrice Bürchler-Keller rewarded her choice of music and interpretation with the highest mark 10. The two judges at E and B Wim Ernes and Beatriz Bürchler-Keller rewarded her transitions with the mark 10. The choreography was rewarded with a 10 by the judge at H. Anky's praise was all for her horse Kelec Salinero, who had been so relaxed and attentive to her all the time, she said. She also thanked the wonderful crowd that gave her and her horse the chance to get concentrated. This was Anky's third consecutive win with Keltec Salinero. This she had done before in 1995, 1996 and 1997, riding Bonfire. Find more statistics in the dressagedirect World Cup Archive.
The first 11 pricewinners were all from Europe. In the twelfth place the first American Tuny Page, who had an disappointing unfortunate ride with her young and still inexperienced horse.

Promising runner up Werth and Warum Nicht FRH

The judge at B Beatriz Bürchler-Keller also rewarded runner up Isabell Werth and her very promising gelding Warum Nicht FRH with a 10 for the musical interpretation. 'Hannes' was swinging it out in the test, making a very good impression of enthusiasm, power and safety in all his movements. Isabell too was happy and also praised the Dutch audience: "The German audience can even learn something from the Dutch audience it's wonderful to feel your appreciation", she said.
For Isabell Werth, one time winner of the World Cup, it was the second time coming second behind Anky van Grunsven.
