FACTS
- Sven Rothenberger has its total family involved in riding, his eldest 13 years old daughter Sanneke, just being returned from a winning international ponyshow in Addington, Great-Brittain, and his son Sönke preparing for a stallionshow today at his grandparents place in Weert, the Netherlands. Sven ended at the 8th place in the standings together with Danish Lone Jörgensen, they both will be represented at the World Cup Finals in Las Vegas.
- Laura Bechtolsheimer with her 20 years is the youngest competitor of this World Cup edition, having taken over Douglas Dorsey from her father Wilfried and preparing Danish-bred Mistral Hoejris (sired by Michellino) for the European Championships for Young Riders.
- Hubertus Schmidt deserved his ticket for Las Vegas, after the disappointment in Neumünster, because of his ‘whip’-problem. He is daily training with his wife Doris, heading up to Las Vegas with Aramis and saving his Olympic horse Wansuela Suerte for the German trials for the team for the European Championships, starting already two weeks after the World Cup Finals in Las Vegas.
- Anky van Grunsven felt very happy after her freestyle, being only the second competition after her Olympic glory in Athens. Keltec Salinero is getting into the competition-rhytm again, although being tensed by the applause of the enthousiastic German public, making him never stop his last piaffe and scoring some 10’s for piaffe. Anky’s dream is now to aim for 90%, she said with a smile.
- Isabell Werth has taken over the lead and did win the Western European League. She will bring Antony FRH to Las Vegas. Isabell has been riding Antony for 16 years; ‘which feels like eternity’, she said. That’s why she feels Antony deserves a world-class-stage to say goobye to international sport, just like Gigolo and Bonfire did in their days.
