Young NZ Dressage Rider Aiming for World Final in Frankfurt Eighteen year old Waipukurau’s Amanda Goldsbury is aiming to compete at world level in her age group with her NZ bred horse Julius.
With one qualifying score already on the board (67.13% at Taupo in January) , Amanda will compete at the second NZ qualifying event at Tielcey Park in Palmerston North on 16/17 September with a trip to Frankfurt, Germany for the Young Rider World Cup Dressage Final in December at stake.
Amanda has been training in Germany based at stable Hufendiek with Anna Lene Holmen for the past five months, but has returned home to prepare Julius for a tilt at this major event . While she is the only NZ based rider with a chance to secure a place in the final, the Palmerston North event at Tielcey Park will see six of NZ’s best young riders competing at international level and providing a challenge to Amanda to secure the 64% qualifying mark in the Freestyle to Music on Sunday.
Young riders between the ages of 16 & 21yrs have been competing in qualifying events world wide since 1 January 2006 but just seventeen of them will qualify for a place in the Frankfurt Final next December.

This year, hardly the last honours were rewarded at the WEG in Aachen, or already Warendorf opened its doors to receive the National Championships. About 900 ponies and horses took part in those Championships, exclusive for German bred horses and ponies only.
German breeds are most successful. At the WEG in Aachen in the three Olympic disciplines show jumping, dressage and eventing of the 48 medals which were awarded not less than 22 were given to German bred horses.
Now in Warendorf in the six year old class of dressage horses, a most surprising winner was found in Farewell III (Fidermark x Rosenkavalier) showed by Sandra Kötter. With a total of 8,62 the Fidermark-son defeated the world champion of the 5 year old horses of last year and 6 year old horses of this year Damon Hill NRW (Donnerhall x Rubinstein I), showed by owner Ingrid Klimke, who received 8,60.
