IAEJ Chairman Xavier Libbrecht, picture Claartje van Andel/dressagedirect ©The International Alliance of Equestrian Journalists (IAEJ) was created in 1966 to promote and maintain contacts among the equestrian journalists of all nations and as a body connected with the FEI, to discuss problems in which the FEI and the equestrian press are both involved.
The IAEJ is an unique alliance dedicated to equestrian journalists, serving 300 members representing a wide number of media outlets. The organization is the face of the media to show organizers, the FEI and the national federations. Selections for Asian Games get shape

Japanese dentist and dressage rider Yikiko Noge is training with German trainer Johann Hinnemann. She has a dream to compete in the Asian Games coming up in December 3-12 in Doha and after that hopefully in the OG of Beijing (Hong Kong) as well. The Japanese equestrian Federation thought a selection trial for the Asian Games should be in Europe. Noge did win the selection trials for the Asian Games in Herentals in Belgium, showing her Dutch-bred horse Libido (sired by Schalkhaar).
Japanese rider Kuranajo Saito who competed at the WEG in Aachen surely tries to qualify for the Asian Games as well. This pupil of Dutch trainer Henk van Bergen already competed in three World Equestrian Games. In The Hague 1994 Saito showed the horse Dugal, in Jerez 2002 he showed Heman and in Aachen he showed Dutch-bred Lotus (Edison x Mytens xx).

Pikeur Trophy won by former European champion Thamar Zweistra

Thamar Zweistra was the winner of the Pikeur Trophy showing her mare Hexagon’s Roumanda to her advantage, especially in her spectacular trot.
Like Germany has the Piaffe Cup for young talents growing in the sport up to Grand Prix-level, the Netherlands and Belgium have adopted the Pikeur Trophy for talents up to 25 years old. The semi-final was held in Belgium, the final took place in the weekend of September 16th and 17th in Deurne, the Netherlands. Four Dutch riders qualified for the final and one Belgian rider, Hannelore Volders. After a classical test, the Freestyle was the last test to decide on the winner. Thamar Zweistra won the individual gold medal at the EC for Juniors and Young Riders in Saumur 2003 showing Kyrain. Now she did win the Pikeur Trophy. International Grand Prix-judge Jan Peeters judged the final. About over all winner Thamar Zweistra he said: “She definitely knows how to ride a freestyle! Her music fitted the movements of Roumanda very well. The overall image of her horse was very nice, especially the nice contact and spectacular trotting parts.” The runner up position was for Moniek van Dijk, who did win the Freestyle test showing her stallion Nowi. Only the pirouettes he didn’t show to its advantage. Experienced Dominique Filion who competed in seven European championships for Juniors and Young Riders became third.
